I thought of Bargearse when I visited the Lighthouse Bakery here in Indian Rocks Beach today. The doughnuts were incredible.

Mine was Bavarian custard, The Colonel had some apple thing.
Yum Yum Yum to doughnuts, no no no to eating too many and ending up like our favourite porky copper, old Bargearse.
Was it as good as the reviews? A Bavarian custard filled donut fills my soul with warmth! I'll pass on the apple thingy.
ReplyDeleteIt was excellent, the best. I didn't like the look of the apple thing either. On a previous visit I had a raspberry Jam one which was a festival for the mouth. Next time I plan on trying the lemon curd one. OHHH NNNNOOMMM NOOOMMM.
ReplyDeleteOh I adore any baked goods which contains lemon. The tart compliments the sweet! I remember years ago having these divine lemon blintz's at Balaclava. Oh and that sweet and tart meringue dessert whe had on Collins street at the former up-market designer store. Ah yes, those were days. Days before the CUBs (cashed up bogans)were let loose in society.
ReplyDeleteAre you talking about Figgins Diorama? I used to love that place. What a shame they closed it down. I was in love with a bugle beaded Karl Lagerfeld clock dress they had. I don't think it would be considered classy vintage today, but rather tacky rubbish.
